Female taekwondo players from 14 states will compete for gold medals

Lucknow, 21 February (HS). More than 400 women players from across the country will compete for the 23 gold medals at stake in the first Khelo India Women's Taekwondo League Phase 2 being held in Lucknow. The matches of this four-day league, organized by Taekwondo Federation of India and Uttar Pradesh Taekwondo Association under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare, Khelo India and Sports Authority of India, will be held from Thursday in the badminton hall of KD Singh Babu Stadium. On the first day of the league, the players included in the teams of 14 participating states were weighed. Regarding the league, Uttar Pradesh Taekwondo Association President Shailesh Kumar Singh Shailu and Secretary Rajkumar said that in this league to be held in senior, junior and cadet categories, a total of 23 weight categories including 8 for senior, 10 for junior and 5 for cadet will be held in Kyorgi. There will be competitions. Secretary Rajkumar told that the matches in the league will start from 9 am on February 22, while the formal inauguration will be done at 12 noon by the chief guest, Uttar Pradesh Government Minister Ashish Patel (Technical Education, Consumer Protection).

He said that more than 400 players from 14 states are participating in this league, among whom there will be a competition for a total of 92 medals including 23 gold, 23 silver and 46 bronze. This league will conclude on 24th September. He informed that the first phase of the league was organized in Meghalaya from 14 to 17 February 2024. Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Taekwondo Association, Rajkumar told that the coaches of Uttar Pradesh team will be Devendra Kumar Singh and Ranjit Yadav. Managers will be Mayank Bharti and Harshita Singh Rathore.
