Bangladesh: The body of a Bangladeshi TV journalist was found in Dhaka's Hatir Lake on Wednesday. News agency ANI has given this information quoting local media. According to the agency, Sajeeb Wazed, son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, described the journalist's death as another brutal attack on freedom of expression in the country.

ANI quoted Dhaka Tribune as saying that the body of the deceased journalist has been identified as 32-year-old Sara Rahnuma, who was a newsroom editor at media house Gazi TV. Her body was found floating on Hatir Lake.

'Brutal attack on freedom of expression'
Sajeeb Wazed Joy wrote in a post on X, 'Rahmuna Sara Gazi TV newsroom editor found dead. Her body was found in Hatir Lake in Dhaka city. This is another brutal attack on freedom of expression in Bangladesh. Gazi TV is secular. The owner of the news channel is Gholam Dastagir Gazi, who was recently arrested.

“I saw the woman floating in Hatir Lake. She was later brought to DMCH, where doctors declared her dead,” the Dhaka Tribune report quoted a man who brought the journalist to the hospital as saying. A Bangladeshi news outlet said that before her death, Rahnuma had posted a status on her Facebook on Tuesday night tagging Fahim Faisal.
