Nitish Kumar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sacked Lallan Singh, considered BJP's agent in JDU, and removed his loyalists from the state committee. By sacking 185 leaders, Nitish has given a clear indication that only those leaders will get positions in JDU who will show loyalty to him. It is believed that Nitish had planned to make Randhir Singh, son of gangster-cum-politician Prabhunath Singh, the vice-president and also appoint Lallan Singh.
Nitish is afraid that Lalan Singh will cause rebellion in JDU
Apart from this, Nitish Kumar has decided to embarrass the BJP by raising the issues raised by Muslims in the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to amend the Waqf Bill. When the Waqf Board Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha, Lalan Singh aggressively argued in its favour. Nitish Kumar is upset because of this.
Nitish got 185 leaders loyal to BJP supporter Lallan Singh killed
Nitish Kumar suspects that Lalan Singh is working as an agent of the BJP instead of working as a JDU leader because Lalan Singh, a minister in the Narendra Modi government, has a soft corner for the BJP. Nitish believes that Lalan Singh wants to prepare an all-rounder in the JDU by rebelling against him in connivance with the BJP so that a BJP leader can be made the Chief Minister in Bihar in future. The new state committee formed by Nitish Kumar has 10 vice-presidents, 49 general secretaries, 46 ministers, 9 spokespersons and 1 treasurer. In view of the Lok Sabha elections, Nitish had formed a 260-member regional committee 15 months ago.
Nitish dissolved the three-year state committee in just 15 months
Now suddenly Nitish has dissolved the old state committee and formed a new committee of 115 members, in which 185 members have been dismissed from the old committee and only 75 officials have been repeated and 40 new faces have been given a chance. Generally the tenure of the state committee is 3 years but Nitish seems to be in the mood to dissolve the state committee and renew it after only one and a quarter years.
Randhir Singh, whom Nitish made the vice-president in the new committee, joined JDU after not getting a ticket from RJD in the Lok Sabha elections. Nitish has sacked 20 vice-presidents of the old committee. There were 105 general secretaries in the old committee, most of them have been removed.
