Clouds of trouble are looming in Puri, the city of Lord Jagannath in Odisha. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, cyclone 'Dana' will hit the coast of Odisha by October 25. This cyclone can wreak havoc in Puri. After this input from the Meteorological Department, tourists and devotees who reached Puri have started leaving the city rapidly. The state government has appealed to the people coming from outside to vacate the entire Yatradham city. Odisha government had issued an advisory in this regard on Monday itself.
The state government has alerted the entire district administration
In which the state government claimed to be alert regarding preparations for relief work, but in view of the safety of the tourists coming here, requested to evacuate the entire city before the arrival of the cyclonic storm. The government has said in its advisory that a cyclonic storm may occur between Puri and Sagar Island by the night of 24 October or the morning of 25 October. The state government has alerted the Puri district administration and said that there should be no rush of new tourists in Puri from October 22. At the same time, East Coast Railway has canceled 94 trains in the up line and 103 trains in the down line. Passengers have been informed about this.
5 IAS officers got responsibility
The state government has deployed senior IAS officers in five districts to deal with cyclonic storm 'Dana'. These five districts are Balasore, Bhadrak, Puri, Mayurbhanj and Jagatsinghpur which are located in the coastal and northern part. While deploying IAS officers here, it has been kept in mind that these officers should have previously worked as collectors here. Taking advantage of their experience, these officers have been asked to be prepared for relief and rescue operations and to mobilize full force in case of a storm.
Alert in West Bengal
An alert has been issued in seven districts of West Bengal regarding storm Dana. After reviewing the situation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced holiday in all the schools of these seven districts from 23 to 26 October. Along with this, he has ordered to open ICDS centers in all the seven districts of South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, West Medinapur, East Medinapur, Jhargram and Bankura. The Chief Minister has separately appointed senior officials and ministers as observers to monitor the situation in all these districts and take precautionary measures.
