Mumbai: A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspector in Kalyan and another person have been arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 70 thousand. The bribe was demanded from people who wanted to open medical shops.
The complainant had applied for a license from the Food and Drug Administration to open a medical shop. But the FDA's drugs inspector allegedly demanded Rs. one lakh from him. Later the bribe amount was reduced to Rs 100. 70 thousand was paid, said Santosh Patil, police inspector of Navi Mumbai SB.
The complainant reported the matter to the ACB. He lodged a complaint. On the basis of which the 50-year-old accused was made to stand near a grocery shop in Kalyan and the complainant was given a bribe of Rs. 70 thousand. He was caught taking it.
ACB officials later arrested the 42-year-old drugs inspector. An FIR was lodged against both the accused at the MFC police station.
