A woman resident of a village in Aung police station area said that on Friday she had gone to her maternal home in a village in Sadar Kotwali to attend a funeral. She had an 11-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son at home. The husband is a drug addict. Last night the husband came home in a drunken state and raped his minor daughter who was sleeping at home. When the daughter protested, he strangulated her and threatened to kill her. Somehow escaping from the clutches of her father, the daughter reached the house of her elder mother living in the neighborhood and told her all her ordeal while crying.
The victim's mother, who reached there after getting information from her sister-in-law, filed a written complaint to the police about her husband's disgusting act. The police recorded the statements of the mother and daughter and sent the girl to the district hospital for medical examination.
Police station in-charge Kanti Singh said that on the complaint of the victim's mother, a case has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act along with rape and other relevant sections. Taking the matter seriously, the accused father has been arrested and further legal action is being taken in the case.
