Fatehabad, September 6 (HS). District police, under the guidance of SP Aastha Modi, conducted a special campaign against criminals in the two months of July and August and arrested 275 criminals including 70 drug smugglers and sent them behind bars. Police recovered drugs worth crores of rupees like heroin, opium, ganja, poppy husk along with illegal weapons and stolen vehicles from them.
SP Aastha Modi said on Friday that the district police took swift action against drug smugglers in two months and arrested 70 accused and registered 58 cases against them. 160 grams 25 milligrams of heroin, 5 quintal 47 kg 937 grams of poppy husk, 96 kg 306 grams of marijuana, 6 kg 174 grams of opium and 4586 banned pills and 22 banned vials worth crores of rupees have been recovered from the possession of these accused.
In a special campaign launched to nab the absconding criminals and rewarded criminals in serious cases, 30 proclaimed offenders and 7 bail jumpers who were absconding for a long time in various criminal cases have been arrested and sent behind the bars. 19 accused of smuggling and possessing illegal weapons were arrested and 12 illegal pistols, 2 guns and 59 cartridges were recovered from their possession. Police also took action against those who upload photos of weapons on social media and registered 5 cases and arrested one accused. 51 accused involved in illegal liquor trade were arrested and 1120 bottles of English and Theka Desi liquor worth lakhs of rupees, 303 bottles of illegal liquor and 700 liters of lahan along with a running liquor distillery were also recovered from their possession.
27 accused of betting and gambling were arrested and cash worth Rs. 4 lakh, 72 thousand 940 was recovered. District police arrested 70 people in 38 cases of snatching, theft and vehicle theft and recovered cash worth Rs. 5 lakh 13 thousand 800 and stolen vehicles from them. SP has given special instructions to all the station in-charges, CIA staff, narcotics cell and PO staff of the district that the campaign being run to nab the wanted accused in various cases should be accelerated with the help of the general public. Giving strict instructions to the officers, he said that any kind of illegal business will not be tolerated in district Fatehabad and such strict action will continue in future as well.
