Fatehabad, March 11 (HS). The Vigilance team conducted a raid in Fatehabad on Monday and arrested the District Welfare Officer red handed while taking bribe from a youth. The police have also arrested a middleman in this case. This bribe was being demanded by the accused through a middleman named Ravindra Singh. Vigilance DSP Jugal Kishore said that Sandeep, resident of village MP Rohi, had complained about this to Vigilance.
In his complaint, Sandeep, resident of village MP Rohi, had said that he had married a Scheduled Caste girl a few years ago. On this, he had filled the form for grant under the inter-caste marriage Shagun scheme by the government. Sandeep was searching for grant money for the last 2 years. On this, a young man named Ravindra from the village got him to talk to the District Welfare Officer. Ravindra had to come and go to the office of the said officer. Sandeep said that the officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 50 thousand from him in exchange for the grant amount. DSP said that on March 3, money had come into Sandeep's account under the scheme. Out of this, an amount of Rs 10 thousand had already been taken by the accused through a private person named Ravindra Singh on March 7.
After this, the remaining amount of bribe of Rs 40 thousand was demanded by the accused. On this Sandeep complained to Vigilance. Based on the information, the Vigilance team laid a trap to catch the accused. On Monday, Sandeep met District Welfare Officer Lalchand along with middleman Ravindra and as soon as the bribe money was given, Vigilance conducted a raid and arrested him red handed. In this case, both the accused have been arrested and investigation is being done. In this case, a case has been registered against the accused in the Anti Corruption Bureau police station. The case is being investigated by the Anti Corruption Bureau team by collecting all the necessary evidence.
