According to a report in Times of India, Mayank’s fitness has put the selectors in trouble.
- Mayank has also not got a place in the probable squad of Delhi team for the second phase of Ranji Trophy starting from January 23.
- A BCCI source said:
“Mayank Yadav is still struggling with a back injury. There is very little chance of him being fit for the England series.”
Injured in IPL, left a mark in international cricket
- Mayank Yadav was injured while playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024.
- After this, he made his international debut in the T20 series against Bangladesh in October.
- Mayank, who took 4 wickets in 3 matches in the debut series, performed brilliantly.
- But in this series also he got injured again, due to which he missed both Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
What are the options for Team India?
- In the absence of Mayank Yadav, the Indian team may have to make changes in the fast bowling attack.
- There will be a lot of pressure on the Indian bowling lineup in this series of 5 T20 and 3 ODI matches against England.
- The selectors will now have to decide which fast bowler will join the team in place of Mayank.
