Farmers will be able to earn better income by planting vanilla plants

East Champaran, 09 December (HS). Medicinal and aromatic vanilla plants were distributed among the farmers under the aegis of Fundamental Agro S Center in Bhawanipur of Sangrampur block in the district.

On the occasion, Agro SK District Coordinator Vinay Shankar Thakur said that the vanilla plant was given among twelve farmers of twelve blocks of the district. He told that this is such a medicinal and aromatic plant that anyone can earn good income by planting it in a shady place. The market rate of the fruits that this plant will yield after three years of planting will be forty thousand rupees per kg. If farmers store the leaves and stems that fall from the plant, they will also be able to purchase them at the rate of Rs 6,000 per kg. At least five kilos of scrap will be produced per plant every year.

Vinay told the farmers that this plant will be ready in three years and one plant will yield at least three to four kg of fruits in a year. It is not the job of the farmers to think about how it will be sold. The company itself will work on this and the plant will continue to bear fruit for fifteen years. He told that at present Saket Anand of Paharpur, Areraj Amit Mishra, Manoranjan Singh of Piprakothi, Jitendra Jha of Sugauli, Suresh Singh of Harsiddhi, Digvijay Singh alias Pinku Singh of Sangrampur, Munna Thakur of Kesariya, Ajit Kumar Singh of Kalyanpur and Sushil of Kotwa. Singh was given a sapling.
