Bathinda: Another farmer from Bathinda district, who was struggling on the Khanuri border, died on Thursday night. The deceased farmer has been identified as Darshan Singh, 62, son of Jarnail Singh, resident of village Amargarh. Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur and General Secretary Resham Singh Yatri said that the farmers have been standing at the Khanuri border since the first day. He said that the said farmer died due to Hanju gas shell released by Haryana Police. He told that when his health deteriorated, farmer Darshan Singh was taken to Pathar for treatment.
From where he was taken to Government Rajindra Hospital where he died. The deceased farmer left behind a son, daughter and wife. This farmer, who owns eight acres of land, has a debt of Rs 8 lakh. His son got married only 15 days ago. Farmer leader Resham Singh Yatri demanded that farmer Darshan Singh should be given martyr status and necessary facilities should be provided.
