Raipur, 24 July (HS). On the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, short term agriculture loans are being distributed to the farmers of Chhattisgarh. So far, short term agriculture loans worth Rs 5590.35 crore have been provided to the farmers in the state through 2058 cooperative societies by the State Cooperative Banks.
This year, the state government has set a target of disbursing loans worth Rs 7300 crore to farmers. The total amount disbursed so far is about 76 percent of the target. Short term agriculture loans are being provided to farmers as per their demand and area. Whereas last year, as of today, short term agriculture loans worth Rs 5,493 crore were distributed.
It is noteworthy that the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme was started by the state government with the objective of fulfilling the basic needs of farmers and providing them convenience in farming. Apart from this, one of its main objectives was to save farmers from the clutches of moneylenders. At present, lakhs of farmers of the state are benefiting from this scheme. This has not only provided relief to farmers for their basic needs, but the production of crops is also increasing continuously.
