Kanpur, 28 August (HS). Different agricultural crops are grown in different seasons according to the suitability of the weather. Similarly, by manipulating the order of different types of mushroom species, farmers can produce mushrooms throughout the year. This will increase the income of the farmers. This was said by home scientist Dr. Nimisha Awasthi on Wednesday in the two-day mushroom production technical training organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dilip Nagar, operated under Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.
He said that mushrooms are used as food and medicine. Due to high level food values like protein, carbohydrates, mineral salts and vitamins, mushrooms have a special importance in the whole world. In the last few years, the inclination of farmers towards mushroom cultivation has increased rapidly, mushroom cultivation can become a source of better income. Farmers in different states are earning good profits from mushroom cultivation, along with less space and less time, the cost of its cultivation is also very low, while the profit is many times more than the cost.
In this sequence, a two-day training was started by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dalip Nagar Kanpur Dehat in village Gopal Nagar development block Rasulabad on Wednesday. Speaking at the program, Home Scientist Dr. Nimisha Awasthi said that just as different agricultural crops are grown in different seasons according to the suitability of the weather. Similarly, by manipulating the order of different types of mushroom species, farmers can produce mushrooms throughout the year. In northern India, seasonal mushroom producers earlier used to stop their production work after taking only one crop of white button mushroom and due to increase in temperature in summer, they are not able to continue mushroom production work throughout the year. Some mushroom producers try to take one or two crops of Dhingri mushroom. If mushroom producers include milky mushroom in the current crop cycle, then they can increase their mushroom production period and can get self-employment by producing mushrooms throughout the year.
CSA media in-charge Dr Khalil Khan said that in the plains of North India, white button mushroom can be produced in autumn from October to February, summer white button mushroom can be produced from September to November and Dhingri from February to April.
Taking the program forward, Dr. Rajesh Rai said that it is very important to include mushrooms in the daily diet for the nutritional security of a developing country like India. More than 35 male and female farmers of Gopalpur participated in the program along with Badan Singh of the cooperative Gram Vikas Sansthan. The method of Dhingri mushroom production was also demonstrated in the program. Shubham Yadav cooperated in the program.
