Fatehabad, June 28 (HS). Alleging rice scam worth hundreds of crores in the state, Pagdi Sambhal Jatta Kisan Sangharsh Samiti Haryana has demanded a high level investigation into the matter. In this matter, a delegation of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti met the officials of Food Corporation of India under the leadership of state president Mandeep Singh on Friday. They have demanded strict action in the entire matter and filing a case against the culprits.
Along with State President Mandeep Singh, Punjab and Haryana High Court lawyer Pradeep Singh, Sukhdeep Singh Randhawa, Paramjit Singh Mintu Ajit Nagar, Secretary Pal Singh were also present on the occasion. State President Mandeep Singh told the FCI officials that the rice which was to be made available to the poor at a reasonable rate under the Bharat Brand Scheme by the Central Government. Under this scheme, instead of making rice available to the poor, many rice mill owners of Haryana illegally sold the rice to other rice mill owners and private people at a higher rate. Due to this, the poor are being deprived of rice and the government has also suffered a revenue loss of hundreds of crores of rupees.
A high level investigation should be conducted in this case. Mandeep Singh said that the union will run a public awareness campaign in the entire Haryana during the upcoming assembly elections and will tell people how the poor have been robbed of their livelihood by the people in power in connivance with private mill owners. If the government does not investigate this matter and file a case against the guilty people, then his union will also file a PIL in the High Court regarding this matter.
Mandeep Singh alleged that there is a suspicion of involvement of many politicians of Haryana in this big rice scam. Such a big scam cannot be done without the support of the ruling politicians. He said that soon information about the sale of rice in entire Haryana will be obtained through Right to Information.
