IPL will be played in India
Amidst the Lok Sabha elections, it has become clear that the 17th season of the Indian Premier League will be played in India only. Earlier in 2009 and 2014, IPL was held abroad due to Lok Sabha elections. But during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the IPL Governing Council successfully organized the 12th season of IPL in India. In view of this success, this time also the IPL Governing Council has decided to organize the 17th season in India only.

However, due to the Lok Sabha elections, the schedule of the 17th season of IPL will not be announced simultaneously. According to the information received so far, first of all the schedule of the first two-three matches of all the teams will be announced. After this, page wise program will be declared as per Lok Sabha elections. The IPL Governing Council will announce the schedule in collaboration with the Home Ministry and the Election Commission.

No IPL match will be organized in the state where voting will take place. The 17th season of IPL can run till 26 May. T20 World Cup is going to start from June 5. In such a situation, BCCI will try to give at least 8 to 10 days of rest to the Indian players to prepare for the T20 World Cup.
