Jani Chacko Uthup, husband of Indian pop icon and popular singer Usha Uthup, died on Monday. His family said he breathed his last in Kolkata. Jani complained of uneasiness while watching TV at home and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

It was reported that he suffered a massive cardiac arrest which led to his death. Jani was Usha Uthup's second husband and was associated with the tea farming industry. Usha and Jani first met in the early 70s at Trinks, a reputed restaurant in Kolkata. Jani is survived by Usha and his two children. He has a son and a daughter. Jani Chacko Uthup's last rites will be performed on Tuesday.
Usha received the Padma Bhushan award
Earlier this year, Usha Uthup was awarded the country's third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan. She was given this honor for her contribution to the music world. Usha, who is called the pop icon queen, said, 'This is an incredible moment. I am still unable to accept this feeling from within. I am grateful to the Government of India for recognizing my talent.
After the award ceremony, Usha said that she misses her co-star Bappi Lahiri a lot. Bappi and Usha together have given many hit songs in Hindi films like 'Ramba Ho', 'Hari Om Hari' and 'Koi Yahan Nache Nache'. Remembering Bappi Lahiri, Usha said, 'I am missing him a lot. I miss both him and RD Burman a lot.'
Usha was awarded the Padma Bhushan at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of President of India Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Home Minister Amit Shah.
