Amin Sayani, who ruled the hearts of fans for decades through radio, passed away on Wednesday. He rose to fame with the famous radio program Geetmala. He breathed his last at the age of 91. His son Rajiv Sayani said that he suffered a heart attack. He was taken to HN Reliance Hospital but could not be saved. Born on 21 December 1932 in Mumbai, the voice of Amin Sayani became famous on radio.
His art of addressing people as sisters and brothers at the beginning of the program and narrating interesting anecdotes between songs kept people glued to the radio. His fans eagerly waited for his Geetmala program. His role in connecting the listeners to radio in the country is considered important. He had many matters related to songs and films and he used to present these matters so much that fans used to wait for him eagerly. With the demise of Amin Sayani, an era came to an end in the world of radio.
A rich treasure trove of a six decade long career has been preserved
Ameen Sayani ruled radio for almost six decades. The excellent programs presented by him are now available with us in the form of recordings as a rich trove. He did about 54 thousand radio programs. Apart from this, 19 thousand voice overs were also given. He also lent his voice for many advertisements. He has also done small roles in some films. His roles were seen in Bhoot Bangla, Teen Deviyan, Boxer and Kattal. In all these films he played the role of event announcer. Even today people listen to countless of his recorded programs on YouTube.
