Family Visa Higher Salary Limit: This country announces 55% increase in income requirement to sponsor a family visa

UK Family Visa: The minimum income required for British citizens and residents has increased by more than 55 percent since Thursday. This also includes those people of Indian origin who want to bring their relatives to Britain on family visa. It has been decided that if someone is preparing to bring someone to the UK on a family visa, the minimum annual salary for this has been increased from £18,600 to £29,000. Officials have said the limit will be raised to £38,700 by the start of next year. Britain's Home Office says this step has been taken to reduce legal migration. It is reported that this is the last measure taken in the package by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary James Cleverley.

What did the UK Home Secretary say?

Britain's Home Secretary James Cleverly says that a large number of people are coming to the country from outside. So we have ensured that British workers and their wages are protected. He said that it was necessary to take this step so that those who bring their families to Britain do not have to bear the burden on the taxpayers. It was also cleverly said that the government has worked to create an immigration system that the public will trust.

PM Rishi Sunak said- increase will happen in two phases

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that when this new rule was first introduced in the House of Commons in December 2023, it was criticized by the opposition. The government therefore opted to raise the salary cap rather than increase it immediately to £38,700 as before. He said that we are significantly increasing the salary range and this will be done in two phases.

For this reason a higher salary limit was set

Steps taken by the government included ending the ability of almost all students to bring dependents to the UK. Apart from this, increasing the minimum wage required for people coming on skilled worker visa to Rs 38,700 was one of the priorities of the government. Additionally it aims to prevent migrants from being paid less than UK workers.
