On the occasion of World Population Day, a family planning fortnight was organized at the Urban Primary Health Center Uttarwari Pokhara in collaboration with the District Health Committee with the aim of increasing awareness about family planning in the community. In this, a stall of condoms, Mala, Chhaya, Copper-T, contraceptive needles was set up in temporary materials of family planning with the help of GNM, ANM, Asha, where the health workers made the people present aware to adopt temporary and permanent methods.
In-charge Medical Officer Dr. Shahabuddin said that 'Family Planning Service Fortnight' is being organized till 31 July 2024. Under this, awareness is being created for population stabilization, information about the services available under the family planning program is being conveyed to the general public and the desired service is being provided to eligible couples. BCM Sameer Amit and FPC Pratap Koshyari said that publicity is being done in the Panchayat's Haat Bazaar, Mahadalit Tola and other places through e-rickshaw (Sarathi Rath). Asha Facilitator has been deputed on the e-rickshaw.
DCM Rajesh Kumar said that there should be a gap of at least three years between the birth of two children so that the woman's body can be fully prepared for the second pregnancy. This can also improve maternal and infant mortality rates. He said that newly married couples should think about having a child only after two years of marriage, because first it is important that the husband and wife understand each other well, understand the family and make themselves financially capable of raising the child well, only then should they plan to have a child.
