Fakir's 'Woh Kajag ki Kashti' floats in Ferozepur

The most listened ghazal of the famous ghazal singer Jagjit Singh is 'Take this wealth, take this fame too, you may snatch my youth from me, but give me back that monsoon of babal, that paper boat of rain. 'Water'. Only one. The 'paper boat' that the author of this ghazal, Sudarshan Fakir, had mentioned while remembering his childhood, actually floated for the first time in the big canal flowing in Sudarshan Fakir's neighbourhood.

The world's best ghazal was created

Often, when rain water accumulated in the old pond area of Sudarshan, the village children used to float their paper boats in the water. At that time, perhaps no one would have known that a child from a small town like Firozpur would grow up and put into words this favorite hobby of other children of his age and would present it in front of the world in such a way that he would become a person. This ghazal will become memorable and the best in the world. Jagjit Singh also became most famous for this ghazal.

mention of village grandmother

The original name of Sudarshan 'Fakir' was Sudarshan Kumar Kamra. Born in 1934 in Purana Talab area of Firozpur, Sudarshan Kumar did his childhood education from Firozpur itself. Meanwhile, an old lady also lived in the neighbourhood. Like other children in the village, Sudarshan too used to listen to his grandmother's stories about kings, queens, fairies etc. till late night when the couple would come to meet her during holidays. Sudarshan Fakir later wrote all these memories of his childhood in his ghazal in this way, 'That bad girl whom my grandmother called Abakha, that fairies' camp in grandmother's words, that wandered around for centuries in the wrinkles of the brothers, cannot be forgotten. . It was a short story, it was a long story.

Sudarshan Kumar became a fakir from Kamra

After completing his primary education in Firozpur, Sudarshan Kamra reached DAV College, Jalandhar for higher education. It was here that he transformed from Sudarshan Kamra to Sudarshan Fakir. Meanwhile, he also worked on All India Radio. Then the journey of a successful poet began. After this he never looked back.

He died in the year 2008

The songs and ghazals written by Fakir Sahab were sung by almost all the top singers and famous background singers. Late singer Jagjit Singh decorated his ghazals with his voice. He spent the last years of his life in Jalandhar. Sometimes he also used to visit his hometown Firozpur. Sudarshan Fakir died on 18 February 2008 in Jalandhar. His family is currently living in Jalandhar.

'You say city of love…'

After staying in Bombay (now Mumbai) for some time, when he returned to Jalandhar permanently, a friend asked him the reason, then Fakir Sahib wrote the story of his return from Bombay in such a way that it proved to be a hit ghazal. When Sudarshan's friend praised Bombay as a beautiful city, he wrote, 'Stones make God, stones make respect, humans meet only through stones, you say it is a city of love, we have come to save lives. '

There have been many parts of the ancestral house

When I wanted to see the ancestral house of Sudarshan Fakir in the Budha Talab area (opposite Gyan Vatika) of Firozpur, I saw a lot of changes at that place. His family had sold the house several years ago. Now many parts of their ancestral home are left. Famous doctors of the city live in one part of his house and a children's school runs in another part, but Sudarshan and his area are still alive in the memories of some people.
