Amidst the upcoming political activity in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President and former Chief Minister of the state Mayawati has issued a big statement regarding the political environment of the state. Mayawati has alleged that certain political parties and a section of the media are deliberately airing such fabricated and fake surveys, which have no connection whatsoever with the ground reality. He says that the main objective of these surveys is to underestimate the support base of Bahujan Samaj Party and to demoralize the party workers.
During a meeting with party officials and senior leaders in Lucknow, Mayawati clearly said that the opposition parties are scared of the growing influence of BSP. This is the reason why they are hatching a conspiracy to confuse the votes of Dalits, backward classes and all sections of society by adopting tactics long before the elections. After this aggressive stance of the BSP chief, the round of debates and statements has once again intensified in the politics of Uttar Pradesh.
#1 “Similar conspiracies took place in 2007 also”: Mayawati reminded old history
BSP supremo Mayawati, known for her sharp stance, assured the workers, citing past examples, that they should not be at all distracted by such false propaganda. He reminded that even before the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, many similar fake surveys and reports were run, in which BSP was being shown as marginalised. But the public rejected all those conspiracies and formed a historic government in the state with full majority.
Mayawati said that history will repeat itself and Bahujan Samaj Party is standing in the field with full strength. He said that the opposition parties may be trying to create publicity through money power and media management, but at the grassroots level, the poor, labourers, exploited and deprived society completely stands with the policies of BSP. He called upon the workers to ignore such misleading data being spread on social media and other mediums and go directly among the public.
#1 Casteist forces and money power are being used: Strong attack from BSP chief
Mayawati also alleged through her official statements and social media that casteist and capitalist forces never want any independent political force standing at the feet of Bahujan community to become strong in Uttar Pradesh. He said that this is the reason that from time to time such fake surveys are created in a sponsored manner, whose sole objective is to target BSP and tarnish the image of the party.
Taking aim at the opposition parties, he said that the parties themselves, which are struggling with huge internal conflicts and public anger, are resorting to such propaganda. Mayawati has directed all the district units and sector in-charges of the party to go door-to-door to propagate the party’s policies and give a befitting reply to the lies being spread by the opposition parties.
#1 Discussion started in political circles: Will these statements change the electoral equation?
After this latest attack by Mayawati, reactions have started coming from other political parties of the state as well. Political analysts believe that by raising such issues before the elections, the BSP supremo is trying to activate her cadre and infuse a new enthusiasm within the party. In a big state like Uttar Pradesh, where every party is busy strengthening its political ground, there is every possibility of such statements increasing the electoral temperature further.
