Fake international call center busted, operators from Haryana and West Bengal arrested

Dehradun, 11 May (HS). Doon police busted a fake international call center on Saturday. A joint team of SOG and Patel Nagar police conducted a raid and arrested two thugs including a fake international call center operator woman and sent them to jail. Also, notice under 41 CrPC has been given to 15 people including eight girls working in the call centre. During interrogation, more links related to the case have come to light, in relation to which action is being taken.

In fact, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh had received information about an illegal international call center being operated in Riddhim Tower near Mahant Indresh Hospital in Patel Nagar area and foreigners being cheated by calling them through the call center. On this, the SSP formed a joint team of SOG Dehradun and Patel Nagar Police under the leadership of Area Officer Sadar for immediate action.

When the team raided the said illegal call center on Saturday, in a big hall on the first floor of Riddhim Tower, some young men and women were sitting in front of laptops and computers and talking on calls wearing headphones, calling themselves Microsoft Online Support. Posing as representatives of the company, they were collecting information about people's bank accounts by removing viruses from their computer systems.

From the spot, the police team arrested call center operator Vivek, son of Anil Kumar, resident of Charel Sector 44 Noida (PG Arpit), Uttar Pradesh, native of village no. Willis Sonada Post Office, Kyusong District, Darjeeling, West Bengal, resident of 1045 village Agroha, Hisar, Haryana and Nikita's daughter Kiran have been arrested and notice has been given to 15 people working in the call center. Police have recovered 14 laptops with headphones, seven mobiles, broadband connection equipment and seven scripts from the spot. The arrested fraudster used to cheat people in foreign countries by pretending to be a representative of Microsoft through the call center on the pretext of fixing the virus sent by himself in the computer system.
