Raipur, June 26 (HS). Senior spokesperson of the State Congress Committee, Surendra Verma, on Wednesday, accused the BJP government of being anti-farmer and said that under the protection of the Congress government, fake fertilizers, substandard seeds, fake medicines, substandard pesticides and expired nano urea are being forcibly sold to farmers in Chhattisgarh. The case of selling expired nano liquid fertilizer manufactured by IFFCO company to farmers in village Murta Seva Sahakari Samiti, Tehsil Navagarh, District Bemetara is an example of the anti-farmer conspiracy of the Congress government. Why was the expired fertilizer stored in the warehouses of primary cooperative societies? Under whose pressure is expired nano urea liquid fertilizer being sold to farmers?
Surendra Verma said that after the BJP government came to power, physical verification and checking of stock in private and government warehouses of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides has stopped in Chhattisgarh. The laboratories for testing samples of fertilizers and seeds have been closed unofficially for the last 6 months in Chhattisgarh. The brokers, middlemen, adulterators and hoarders are getting protection from BJP leaders for corruption and commission.
Surendra Verma said that poor quality of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides is not only a crime but also a great sin. The farmer works very hard to get a good harvest, if the seeds turn out to be substandard and expired nano urea is sold to the farmers, then who is responsible for the loss in the yield? The government should immediately assess the loss caused to the farmers due to substandard seeds and fake fertilizers and give proper compensation to the farmers for the loss.
