Rs 42 lakh looted by fake crime branch team: A robbery incident has been revealed in Varanasi, UP, which has shocked everyone. Because a sub-inspector was also involved in this robbery. Yesterday, the police arrested the sub-inspector and his two companions. However, three accused are still absconding. Their search is on. The accused inspector posted at Nadesar outpost of Cantt police station area and his companions looted Rs 42 lakh from a businessman by posing as fake crime branch officers.

For this he had hatched a conspiracy in filmy style

Three people including police inspector Sundaresh Pandey, arrested in the robbery case, were presented in the court on July 24, from where they were sent to jail. But during this time, suspended inspector Sanryal was seen smiling. Such a picture of the accused inspector is being discussed in the Banaras office as well as in the entire Varanasi Commissionerate Police.

On June 22, two employees of a big jeweler were going to their destination by bus carrying 93 lakh rupees of the company. That night, some people stopped their bus at Ramnagar police station in Varanasi. One was in uniform and the other in plain clothes. It is alleged that he introduced himself as a member of the Crime Branch and got both the employees of the businessman off the bus in the name of interrogation. Then after going some distance, he took 42 lakh rupees from him and returned the remaining money.

When the employee told this to the businessman, there was an uproar. A complaint was lodged at the police station but the local police did not take it seriously initially. However, as the uproar increased, the higher officials took the matter to SOG for investigation. A person involved in the incident has been arrested. After questioning him, the name of Inspector Sundaresh Pandey came to the fore. After this, when a deep investigation was done, it was found that the inspector was there on the day of the incident and played an important role in carrying out the incident by introducing himself as from the Crime Branch.

This is how the robbery was planned

According to sources, on June 22, a businessman from Varanasi was going somewhere with his employees carrying Rs 93 lakh. Two employees were going by bus with this amount. When the information reached the outpost in-charge Sundaral Pandey, he planned the robbery. Sunrayal included two other people in the robbery plan. For which he had already seated one of his men in the bus with an illegal pistol. When the bus reached the highway, the outpost in-charge and his companions stopped the bus by introducing themselves as Crime Branch officers. Then both the employees were taken off the bus. After counting the hawala money, 42.50 lakhs out of 93 lakhs were kept and 50 lakhs were returned.

What did the DCP say?

Giving details about the incident, the DCP said that with the help of CCTV footage and CDR, the names of the accused have been revealed. A sub-inspector is also involved in this and his role is also suspicious. Apart from the three accused arrested in the robbery incident, three other accused are absconding. Out of the looted amount of Rs 42 lakh, about Rs 8 lakh has been recovered. Apart from two weapons, live cartridges were also recovered.
