The MoU was signed by Manisha Bansal Badal, General Manager, Trade Development Directorate, Department of Posts, and KJ Srinivas, Joint Secretary (PSP & CPO), Ministry of External Affairs. Under this initiative, it is planned to increase the number of Passport Seva Kendras across the country to 600 centers by 2028-29, providing greater accessibility and convenience to citizens, the statement said. In the next five years, the annual customer base will increase from 35 lakh to one crore.
How to get passport from post office
Earlier people had to go to the Passport Seva Kendra to get a passport made, but now all these services are available from the Common Service Center of the Post Office. You can register and apply for a passport at the CSC counter of your nearest post office. To apply for a passport you can register and apply online. For this you will have to register yourself on the official website of the post office. After this you will have to submit online fee and form to make passport. After this process is completed, you will get a date. On that day you will have to go to the nearest post office for verification with your documents.
What documents are required?
To get a passport, birth certificate, high school mark sheet, water ID, PAN card, Aadhar card, driving license, ration card and notarized affidavit are required. Document verification will be done at the post office. If the document is found valid then the process will proceed. During this, the applicant’s fingerprint and retina will be scanned. After document verification you will be issued a passport.
