News India Live, Digital Desk: If you are also among those people who use a separate app of Facebook Messenger on their laptop or computer, then there is a big news for you. Facebook’s parent company, Meta, has decided to shut down its Messenger desktop app. This means that soon you will not be able to use this standalone app on your Windows and MacOS computers.

The first and biggest question that will come to your mind after hearing this news is that “So what about my years old chats?”

So, let us remove this worry of yours and understand this entire change in simple language.

The most important question: Will your chats be deleted?

The simple and straightforward answer is – no way!

There is no need for you to panic. None of your chats, photos or videos are going to be deleted. Understand it this way: All your conversations are saved not in the messenger app, but on Meta’s servers. It’s exactly like if you change your phone, but as soon as you log into Facebook, all your old posts and photos come back.

Even when this desktop app stops working, your entire chat history will remain intact.

Then how to run messenger on computer now?

Meta has closed only the app, not the messenger. You still have two easy ways to use Messenger on your computer:

  1. Run on browser: You open any web browser (like Google Chrome, Safari or Mozilla Firefox) on your computer and messenger.com Go to website. Here you can log in with your Facebook ID and password and use Messenger just like you used to do in the app.
  2. From Facebook website: The second and easiest way is to directly facebook.com Go to. There you will see the messenger icon in the right corner, where all your chats will remain present as before.

But why is the meta doing this?

Often companies do this so that they can improve their resources. Maintaining multiple apps for different platforms requires a lot of expense and effort. It may be that Meta wants to provide the same experience to all its users, which can be easily provided through the browser.

So, even if it’s just changing one of your habits, the good news is that it’s not going to cause any major upheaval in your digital conversation world. All your chats are completely secure.
