A very strange and two-sided mood of nature is being seen in Bihar, which has completely surprised everyone from meteorologists to the general public. The Patna Center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a very sensitive and double high alert regarding the weather of the state. At present the weather of Bihar is completely divided into two different parts. While on one hand the severe torture of the sun and deadly heatwave (heatwave) continues in some south-western districts of the state, on the other hand, due to the activity of monsoon, many districts of North and East Bihar are witnessing severe dust storms, torrential rains and lightning (thunderstorms). Life has been badly affected by this strange weather reversal.

According to the latest report of Patna Meteorological Centre, mercury has reached record levels in many districts of south-west Bihar including Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhua, Aurangabad, Gaya and Nawada. In these areas, there is silence on the roads in the afternoon due to the gusts of westerly winds and scorching sun. The Meteorological Department has issued a strict heat wave alert for these areas and advised people to come out of their homes only if there is urgent work between 12 noon and 4 pm. Due to this gust of hot winds, the graph of seasonal diseases has increased rapidly and the number of patients in local hospitals is continuously increasing.

While South Bihar is scorching with severe heat, the weather in the districts of North and East Bihar is completely pleasant and full of relief. Dense dark clouds have camped in the districts of Seemanchal and Kosi region like Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa, Supaul as well as Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Bhagalpur. According to meteorologists, there is a strong possibility of winds blowing at a storm speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and intermittent heavy rains in these districts. Due to the moisture coming from the Bay of Bengal, a huge drop in temperature has been recorded in these areas, which has brought great relief to the people from humidity and heat.

The most worrying thing amidst all this monsoon change is the continuous lightning in the state. Every year there is huge loss of life and property due to lightning in Bihar, in view of which the State Disaster Management Department in collaboration with local district administrations has issued a detailed guideline and advisory. People have been clearly told that whenever thunder starts in the sky or strong winds blow, they should immediately take shelter in pucca houses. Farmers working in the fields are completely prohibited from stopping under big trees or in open fields. The Meteorological Department says that this dual nature of weather will continue in Bihar for the next three to four days.
