Extortion of Rs 5 lakh from businessman in Palamu, threat of shooting

Palamu, May 7 (Hindustan Reporter) Businessman Ritesh Kumar Anand alias Raja Gupta, resident of Chhattarpur, near Thakurbari temple under Chhatarpur Nagar Panchayat of the district, has received death threats. The case of shooting of Khatin resident Santosh Gupta had not yet cooled down when another businessman was being threatened with death.

This threat has been given over the phone by an unknown person. Businessman Ritesh told on Tuesday that he had been threatened over the phone and an extortion amount of Rs 5 lakh was demanded. If not given, a warning has been given that they will be shot till evening. For this matter, an application has been filed in Chhattarpur police station and a request has been made to the police station in-charge for safety of life.

Ritesh Kumar Anand, a textile businessman from Thakurbari Mandir bus stand, has accused his family members of getting threats. In the application, he has told that on May 6, 2024, at 9.35 am, an extortion demand of Rs 5 lakh was made by an unknown person on his mobile number 7992344513 from mobile number 8864077366. If he did not give, he was threatened with death.

He has written that there was a dispute between aunt Suman Gupta and husband Santosh Kumar Gupta over a land dispute on May 5. Pleading for their safety, they have said that these people can kill us at any time, hence they have requested the police station in-charge to conduct a quick investigation and take action against the culprits. In this matter, the station in-charge said that an application has been received in this regard. Has been directed for investigation. The matter will be clarified after investigation.
