New Delhi, July 31 (HS). External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday. Chinh arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday on a three-day visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar shared photos of his meeting with Vietnam's Prime Minister Chinh on social media and posted, “Proud to have met Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his State visit to India. Appreciate his guidance on our bilateral relations and regional and global issues of mutual interest. Look forward to his summit meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.”
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, on August 01, Vietnam's Prime Minister Chinh will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, after which he will visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He will hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister, who will also host a luncheon in his honour.
Prime Minister Chinh is scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
India and Vietnam have centuries-old historical and civilisational ties, which were elevated to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the Prime Minister’s visit to Vietnam in September 2016. India considers Vietnam a key pillar of its Act East Policy and an important partner in its Indo-Pacific vision.
