External Affairs Minister Jaishankar discusses strategic ties during his visit to UAE

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday after Sri Lanka. He held extensive talks with his counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his visit to the UAE. Jaishankar discussed the ever-growing strategic relations between India and the United Arab Emirates with UAE Foreign Minister Al Nahyan. Along with this, he also discussed many regional and global issues.

During his visit to the United Arab Emirates, Jaishankar also visited the BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. He also met BAPS officials. After visiting the temple, he tweeted, “Today I had the privilege of visiting the BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. A direct symbol of India-UAE friendship, this temple gives a positive message to the world. It is a cultural bridge between the two countries. Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi inaugurated this temple on February 14 this year. BAPS has built a temple on land donated by the UAE.

After this, he inaugurated and participated in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations organized by the Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. The event was held at the Abu Dhabi Museum Complex. After participating in the International Yoga Day celebrations, he met Foreign Minister Al Nahyan. After the meeting, Jaishankar said that we had a meaningful and comprehensive discussion on the ever-growing strategic partnership. Apart from this, regional and global issues were also discussed.

Relations between India and the United Arab Emirates have improved in the last few years. The two countries signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022 to enhance economic partnership. The UAE was one of the top four investors in India in terms of foreign direct investment in 2022-23. The population of Indians in the UAE is around 35 lakh.

During his visit to Sri Lanka, the Foreign Minister inaugurated the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) developed with the help of India. During this, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe was also present with him. Which was jointly inaugurated by both. 48 houses built under the India Adarsh ​​Gram Housing Project were handed over. 106 houses were handed over under the third phase of the Indian Housing Project. Jaishankar's visit came soon after President Ranil Wickremesinghe's visit to India. Ranil also came to India to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the third term of the Modi government.
