New Delhi, August 28 (HS). Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and BRS leader K Kavitha appeared through video conferencing in the CBI case related to the Delhi Excise Scam in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday. Special Judge Kaveri Baveja directed the CBI to provide copies of the documents sought to the accused in one to two days. The court allowed the lawyers of the accused to take photographs of the documents if they are clearly visible in the court records. The next hearing of the case will be on September 11.
In this case, the Supreme Court has granted regular bail to Manish Sisodia and Kavita. Kavita was granted regular bail by the Supreme Court on 27 August while Sisodia got bail on 21 August. The CBI filed a chargesheet against Kejriwal in this case on 29 July. The Rouse Avenue Court took cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the CBI against Kavita on 22 July. Kavita was arrested by the CBI in this case on 11 April. The CBI filed a chargesheet against Kavita on 7 June. The court took cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the ED against Kavita on 29 May.
So far 18 people have been arrested in this case. Those arrested include Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, BRS leader Kavita. The Supreme Court has granted regular bail to Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia and K Kavita.
The ED arrested Kejriwal after questioning him late in the evening on March 21. Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on June 26. The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Kejriwal in the ED case. The ED arrested Sanjay Singh on October 4 after questioning him at his official residence. The ED arrested Sisodia from Tihar Jail after questioning him in this case on March 9, 2023. Sisodia was earlier arrested by the CBI on February 26, 2023.
