New Delhi, 4 October (Hindustan Reporter). A historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM) at an event held at Taj Mahal Hotel on Friday. On this occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, AICTE Chairman Prof. TG Sitaram and SIDM President Dr. Rajinder Singh Bhatia were present.
This MoU aims to establish a strong partnership between academia and defense industry to create a future-ready workforce in the defense and aerospace sectors from AICTE approved institutions across India. Under this, the focus will be on faculty and student development through special programs that will promote capacity building and institutional development in defense and aerospace education. With this collaboration, the facility to do internship in defense and aerospace industry will also be available to the students. This will give them valuable practical experience and increase their employability.
Research and innovation are also at the center of this agreement. Both AICTE and SIDM are working together on research projects and pilot programs to address the current and emerging challenges in the defense industry. Apart from this, awareness programs on important and emerging technologies will be organized to enhance the understanding of educational institutions about these areas. Ultimately, corresponding academic programs in Defense and Aerospace will be started in AICTE affiliated universities and institutions to further enhance the nation's capabilities in these areas.
This MoU is valid for three years and will serve as a basis for future cooperation. The agreement will also ensure that the defense industry can benefit from highly skilled graduates trained in relevant fields. The exchange of the MoU in the presence of the Defense Minister underlines the commitment of the Government to strengthen relations between academic institutions and industry in areas critical to national security.
