These days the politics of Uttar Pradesh has become heated regarding the discovery and excavation of temples. This trend, which started from Sambhal, is now increasing rapidly in many parts of the state with claims of finding Shivling and temples. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav made a new controversial claim on Sunday. He said that there is a Shivling under the CM residence where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lives in Lucknow and it should be excavated. This statement has become a topic of discussion in political circles.
Akhilesh Yadav’s claim: Shivling below the Chief Minister’s residence
While talking to the media at SP headquarters, Akhilesh Yadav said, “There is a Shivalinga below the Chief Minister’s residence. This is our information. This should also be excavated.” There was a stir in politics after this statement. This claim of Akhilesh is being linked to the excavations taking place in Sambhal and the discovery of temples.
Akhilesh has already raised questions on the violence that took place after the survey of Jama Masjid in Sambhal and the electricity theft campaign run by the administration in Muslim areas and the restoration work of temples. Now his new statement has further intensified the political discussion.
Sambhal excavations and political allegations
Excavation work of old stepwells and wells is going on in Sambhal. At the same time, there is a situation of tension regarding the survey of Jama Masjid. Regarding these incidents, Akhilesh Yadav targeted the BJP government and said that this entire exercise is being done for communal polarization. He said, “The government should answer as to where this politics being done in the name of temple and Shivling will take the state.”
Questions on construction of Raj Bhavan and bulldozer action
Akhilesh Yadav also raised questions regarding the bulldozer action. He alleged that the BJP government’s bulldozer is being used to target only selected communities and people from the opposition. Akhilesh said, “Do you have a map of the construction outside Raj Bhavan? When will the bulldozer go there?”
Taking aim at BJP and Congress, he said that when I was moving to a new house, a PIL was filed against me. I know who filed it.
Attack on preparations for Mahakumbh
Akhilesh Yadav also took the BJP government to task over the preparations for the Mahakumbh to be held in Prayagraj. He said that religious events like Mahakumbh are a matter of faith and there is no need to invite people. On Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inviting BJP President JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders to visit Delhi, Akhilesh taunted and said, “Invitations are not given to Kumbh. People come by their faith. This government is pretending.”
He also raised questions on the incomplete works of Ganga Expressway. Akhilesh said, “The government had promised that the Ganga Expressway would open before the Kumbh, but till date it has not been inaugurated.”
Question again on EVM
Akhilesh Yadav once again raised questions on the reliability of EVMs. He said that because of EVM, the loser cannot believe in his defeat and the winner cannot believe in his victory. Demanding elections to be conducted through ballot paper, Akhilesh said, “Ballot makes the election process transparent. We should conduct elections through ballot instead of EVM.”
Akhilesh’s strategy and target on BJP
It is clear from these statements of Akhilesh Yadav that he is working on a strategy to corner BJP on every issue. From digging of temples to Kumbh preparations and bulldozer politics, Akhilesh Yadav is trying to turn every issue against the government.
The rise of this controversy in the politics of Uttar Pradesh raises the question whether these incidents are a part of the revival of religious places or are they becoming a part of the political agenda?
