Examination centers will be cancelled if any complaint of cheating is received: Vice Chancellor

Prayagraj, June 23 (HS). No tampering with the sanctity of the examinations being conducted by Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University across the state will be tolerated under any circumstances. Taking cognizance of the alleged and misleading information of cheating at an examination centre in Hamirpur due to lack of coordination between the principal and the centre coordinator, Vice Chancellor Professor Satyakam said that such examination centres which do not take the examinations of the open university seriously will be cancelled immediately.

As per the information of the Controller of Examinations of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, on the orders of the Vice Chancellor, the examinations conducted at Government College, Hamirpur Examination Center have been postponed till further orders. All the candidates of this center will appear for the examination at the Regional Center Kanpur from June 24.

Professor Satyakam said that the Open University is committed to conducting examinations in a transparent manner in the entire state. The Vice Chancellor has focused all his attention on conducting a transparent examination without any cheating. He himself conducted a surprise inspection of many examination centres located in remote areas of Prayagraj and directed the Controller of Examinations to make the examination system more effective. He said that the utility of distance education is increasing very rapidly in the entire country. People are enrolling in large numbers in open universities as compared to traditional educational institutions. The aim of distance education is to provide education to people at their homes.

In view of this, examination centres have been determined all over Uttar Pradesh and examinations are being conducted. Supervisors and flying squads have been formed to conduct a cheat-free and transparent examination in Uttar Pradesh. Professor Satyakam has given clear instructions to the centre heads of all examination centres that any kind of compromise with the quality of the examination will not be tolerated. He also instructed the centre coordinators of the Open University's 12 regional centres in the state, namely Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Jhansi, Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad and Azamgarh, to conduct surprise inspections of the examination centres and submit a report on the same day.

Taking cognizance of the media reports about the Hamirpur examination centre, the Vice Chancellor said that orders have been given for a high-level inquiry into the matter. He expressed concern that some newspapers tried to tarnish the reputation of the university without publishing the university's side. He said that distance education today is based on technology. The university is providing new facilities to the students through technology-based education system, the students here will emerge as very skilled through online smart classes. In the coming years, Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University will be counted among the leading open universities of the country.
