New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has suffered a big setback in the Delhi High Court. Arvind Kejriwal's petition in the High Court against his arrest by central agency ED in the excise policy scam has been rejected. Along with this, the High Court has made it clear that the evidence collected by ED shows that Arvind Kejriwal has conspired with other accused. Earlier, ED had also considered Kejriwal as the main mastermind of this entire case.
Kejriwal's plea was heard by Delhi High Court judge Swarnkant Sharma, who, while delivering his verdict on the case on Tuesday, said Kejriwal was not only involved in the entire conspiracy but was also involved in taking bribes and committing crimes. As the national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party, Kejriwal himself was involved in formulating the liquor policy of Delhi as well as in collecting the bribe amount. There is also evidence that the scam money was used in the Goa election campaign. The High Court made this comment on the basis of the statements and evidence presented by the ED.
Not only this, Delhi High Court also said that courts are governed by law and not by political pressure. Arvind Kejriwal claimed that people who made statements against him got bail, later he bought electoral bonds and was also given election ticket by a political party, on which the High Court said that which party gave the ticket to whom. And who bought the electoral bonds? The concern of this court is that it will proceed only on the basis of the evidence and law before it.
Kejriwal also raised the question that he was arrested before the Lok Sabha elections so that he could not campaign in the elections. In response to which Justice Sharma of the High Court said that this court is of the opinion that the arrest and remand of Kejriwal has been done not keeping in mind the election time but keeping in mind the evidence and law. Kejriwal made another allegation that he was arrested by using ED to make political arguments. In response to which the High Court said that there is no need to take the political dispute before the court, it is unnecessary to do so in this case.
The court is not influenced by anyone but follows the law. Courts work on the basis of constitutional morality and not political principles. Along with this, the High Court rejected the petition against Kejriwal's arrest. As a result, now Kejriwal can challenge this decision of the High Court in the Supreme Court. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the so-called excise policy scam is a conspiracy to ruin the Aam Aadmi Party and Kejriwal. We respect the High Court but its order is not acceptable to us and we will appeal in the Supreme Court. CBI and ED could not get even a single rupee in this entire so-called scam.
