According to a special report of Zee News, the name of this chariot of Shri Krishna is ‘Jaitra’ (Jaitra), who was also known as ‘Garudadhwaj’. This chariot was not an ordinary vehicle, but a bundle of divine powers and amazing mysteries. Let us know some facts related to this chariot of Shri Krishna which you might not have heard.
1. Why was it called ‘Garudadhwaj’?
The flag that was hoisted above the chariot of Lord Shri Krishna was decorated with the real bird king. Garuda Used to be seated. For this reason it was called ‘Garudadhwaj’. It is believed that Garuda Dev is the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, hence whenever Shri Krishna went on any mission of war or peace, Garuda Dev himself used to protect his chariot by staying on the flag.
2. Four divine horses of Jaitra chariot
The four horses pulling Shri Krishna’s chariot were also not ordinary. Their names are mentioned in the scriptures as follows:
Shaibya: He was extremely fast like Sugriva.
Sugriva: Its name means ‘the one with the beautiful neck’.
Cloudflower: Its color was like the clouds in the sky.
Balahak: He was known for his strength and courage. The color of these four horses was different and their speed was considered as fast as their mind.
3. Amazing construction and features of the chariot

The wheels attached to it used to make a special kind of roar while moving, hearing which the hearts of the enemies would tremble. The frame of the chariot was decorated with gold and precious stones, which shone like the sun even in the dark.

Although in the war of Mahabharata, Shri Krishna drove Arjun’s chariot ‘Nandighosh’ and became his charioteer, but his own chariot ‘Jaitra’ is also mentioned in many contexts. When Shri Krishna went to Hastinapur as a messenger of peace, he reached there riding on this divine chariot. The divinity of this chariot can be gauged from the fact that the air traveling with it also became sacred.
5. This divine vehicle lived in Dwarka
This chariot of Shri Krishna remained in his capital Dwarka. Whenever there was any crisis in Dwarka or Shri Krishna had to kill any demon, he used to enter the battlefield riding on ‘Jaitra’. When this chariot moved with Sudarshan Chakra, its thunder was heard in the entire universe.
