Matturu village of Karnataka is famous for its language. People around this village speak Kannada language but all the people of this village speak Sanskrit language. Matturu village is situated on the banks of Tunga river.
According to the 2011 census, the total population of this village is 3000. It is said that this is the last Sanskrit speaking village in India. Everyone here is fluent in Sanskrit. The murals on the walls are also written in Sanskrit.
