Every fourth child in the world is a victim of hunger, claims Pakistan is better than India

Child Poverty in India: UNICEF has released a shocking report on child poverty. According to this report, India is among the countries with the worst situation in terms of hunger. Pakistan's condition is considered to be much better than India. If there is a worse situation than India in any South Asian country, then it is only Afghanistan. According to the report, every fourth child in the world is a victim of hunger.

65% of children are suffering from acute hunger

Out of the total 181 million children in the world, 65 percent of them are victims of severe hunger. According to UNICEF data, one in four children falls in the category of severe hunger and spends his life eating very poor diet.

Researched on 92 countries

The UNICEF Child Nutrition Report 2024 researched 92 countries. UNICEF's report on child food poverty also includes children up to five years of age. This report shows whether the child is getting a nutritious diet or not. Severe child food poverty also includes poor nutrition for children, poor environment and per-family income which affects children and their families. The report covers both poor and above-average families.

Which country has the most hunger?

According to the report, the number of children living in severe child food poverty ranges from one percent in Belarus to 63% in Somalia. Somalia is followed by Guinea at 54%, Guinea-Bassou at 53%, Afghanistan at 49%, Ethiopia at 46% and Liberia at 43%. While in India this rate is 40%. While 38 percent of children in Pakistan are victims of hunger.

The report shows that India is among the 20 countries where children do not get nutritious food. Along with India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are also in this category.

One in four children does not get enough food

According to the report, two out of every three children below the age of five, that is 66 percent children, are victims of hunger. Thus, about 44 crore children are not able to get affordable food. In that too, India's report is more shocking.

40% of children in India are in severe food poverty, another 36% are in moderate child food poverty. According to calculations, the total figure reaches 76%.
