Dehradun, 12 May (HS). The five-day summer art festival organized by Doon Library and Research Center came to a grand conclusion on Sunday. The fifth day was dedicated to folk songs and classical music.
Story telling and acting were presented on Sunday as part of a series of events focusing on various aspects of literature, art, music and cinematic arts. Young theater artist Siddhant Arora and his colleagues introduced Habib Tanveer's play Charandas Chor and recited key excerpts brilliantly.
The play Charandas Chor gives the message of man to remain steadfast for the truth. Well-known screenwriter and theater director Habib Tanveer has written this play. Charandas Chor is the story of a thief who is a habitual thief. The story of the play begins with the theft of a gold plate. Charandas has absconded after stealing a gold plate from a village. To escape from the police, Charandas expresses his desire to enter the ashram of a Guruji and become his disciple. Guruji agrees and takes a condition that Charandas will always take a vow to tell the truth. You will have to accept one thing from Guruji that you will have to stop telling lies. At first Charandas seems reluctant to take this vow, but in order to avoid the police, he takes a vow that he will never lie. The story of the play was woven on these words of Charan Das. Charandas remains true to his words till his death.
The evening session focused on musical programmes. In this, famous artist Nagin Tanveer gave excellent presentations of Chhattisgarhi folk songs and easy classical music. He won the applause of music lovers by giving one of the best presentations of Chhattisgarhi folk music. He decorated the evening with the sound of classical music in such a way that the gathering became memorable.
It is noteworthy that Nageen Tanveer is the daughter of screenwriter, theater director and poet Habib Tanveer. Nageen Tanveer's heart and soul have always been associated with music. He has trained in classical and light classical music and is rare and valuable. A storehouse of Chhattisgarhi folk music which she presents in concerts. After the death of his father, he took charge of the new theatre. Before this, Doon Library Chairman Prof. BK Joshi welcomed the guests. During this time there were Deepak Nagalia, Vijay Bhatt, Himanshu Ahuja, Kalyan Butola, Ira Chauhan Arun Kumar etc.
