News India Live, Digital Desk: According to Acharya Chanakya, mere bookish knowledge or high intellectual ability (IQ) is not a guarantee of success. Many times even a very intelligent person fails due to some of his habits or circumstances where an ordinary person becomes successful. Chanakya has given the deep psychological and practical reasons behind the failure of the intelligent.
1. Overconfidence
According to Chanakya, the biggest enemy of an intelligent person is the ego of his own intelligence.
Reason for failure: When a person starts believing that he knows everything and can never be wrong, he stops taking advice from others. This ‘over-confidence’ forces him to take wrong decisions.
2. Lack of control over emotions (Emotional Imbalance)
It is often seen that people with sharp intelligence are weak in terms of emotions.
Reason for failure: Chanakya says that the person who stops using his intelligence due to anger, attachment or love, his defeat is certain. Excessive anger or excessive emotionality reduces the decision making ability of an intelligent person.
3. Ignoring the Importance of Time
Intelligent people sometimes spend so much time making their plans that the ‘right opportunity’ gets missed.
Reason for failure: According to Chanakya Niti, for success it is essential to have ‘Kaal Gyan’ (understanding of time) along with intelligence. If you don’t take the right action at the right time, your intelligence will go to waste.
4. Wrong association and trust in the wicked
Chanakya has clearly said that an intelligent person is safe only as long as he is alert.
Reason for failure: Many times, intelligent people fall prey to cunning people because of their generosity or straightforwardness. Chanakya warns that “an evil person does not change his nature”, and the wise who trust in him thinking that he will reform them ultimately fail.
