Gautam Gambhir: Indian cricket team's head coach Gautam Gambhir has once again expressed his confidence regarding bowling. Gambhir believes that this is the era of the bowlers and the batsmen will have to give up their stubbornness. It was Gambhir's confidence that resulted in the Indian team's bowling unit taking 26 wickets in the three-match T20 series against Bangladesh. Now India will play the next Test series against New Zealand from 16th October.
Before the Test series against New Zealand, Gautam Gambhir said, 'This is the era of bowlers. Only a batsman lays the foundation for winning the match. The batsmen will have to forget their stubborn attitude. Even if the team scores 1000 runs in batting, there is no guarantee of winning. But if a bowler takes 20 wickets in the match then there is 99 percent guarantee of winning the match.
Gambhir further said, 'There is more passion towards batting in India, but bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have worked to change this mentality. Bumrah works very cleverly in Test cricket. It is good that our bowlers are changing the parameters of global cricket. 'Bumrah is the best fast bowler in the world at the moment, who can turn the match at any time.'
The team has so much confidence in Jasprit Bumrah that he has been made the vice-captain for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand. This year, Bumrah is jointly at first place in terms of taking most wickets in Test matches. This year Jasprit Bumrah, England's Gus Atkinson and Sri Lanka's Prabhat Jayasuriya have taken 38 wickets.
