Jammu and Kashmir High Court: While hearing a petition, the Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh High Court said that it is the father's responsibility to provide for his children.
what is the matter
A man told the court that he does not have enough money to maintain his children. When he told about his estranged wife, he said that his wife (mother of the child) earns and has enough income to take good care of the child. However, the court rejected these arguments. The court said that being a father does not absolve him of the responsibility of maintaining his children.
The magistrate court ordered the man to pay Rs 4,500 for his three children, i.e. a total of Rs 13,500. Against which the man went to the High Court and challenged this order. The man argued in the High Court that his income is Rs 12 thousand. In such a situation, he is not able to pay Rs 13,500 for the children. Whereas the mother of the children is a government teacher and earns a good salary.
However, the man did not submit any proof of his income of Rs 12,000. He is an engineer and has worked abroad before.
