Maharashtra elections: Voting took place on 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra on Wednesday (November 20). Counting of votes will take place on Saturday (23 November). Meanwhile, there is a tussle going on among the leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) over the post of Chief Minister. State Congress President Nana Patole said, ‘In the new government, the Chief Minister will be from Congress, while on Patole’s statement, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) MP Sanjay Raut said, ‘We do not agree.’

Congress state president Nana Patole said, ‘Mahavikas Aghadi government will be formed in Maharashtra under the leadership of Congress, the maximum number of Congress MLAs will be elected in the state. Aghadi government will be formed. Condemning his statement, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) MP Sanjay Raut said, ‘We do not agree. No one will agree. We will meet and decide.
Even before this, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader Sanjay Raut had reacted strongly to Congress’s defeat in Haryana, after which, before the meeting of Maha Vikas Aghadi, Congress state president Nana Patole hit back at Raut.
65 percent voting took place in Maharashtra
There was 65 percent voting in the assembly elections held in Maharashtra. The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is bidding to retain power, while the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance is hoping to continue its good performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
War between Mahayuti and MVA in Maharashtra
In Maharashtra, there is a tough fight between Mahayuti (BJP, Shinde faction, Ajit faction) and Mahavikas Aghadi (Uddhav faction, Sharad faction and Congress). In the grand alliance, BJP is contesting on 149 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde Group) on 81 seats and Ajit Pawar’s NCP is contesting on 59 seats. Whereas in Mahavikas Aghadi, Congress has fielded its candidates on 101 seats, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) on 95 seats and Sharad Pawar-led NCP has fielded its candidates on 86 seats.
