Even amidst the war with Ukraine, 30,000 Indian students are studying in Russia

Even amid the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, about 30,000 Indian students are studying medicine in Russia.

After Russia launched war against Ukraine in 2022, there were concerns over the safety of Indian students studying in Russian universities. The Indian government also conducted an operation to safely bring back Indian students from Ukraine.

However, even after two years of war, the number of Indian students in Russia has not decreased. Oleg Osipov, Delhi-based director of Russian House, said that the war has no impact on the places where Indian students study. Some of the Indian students are in Crimea, some in Sevastopol and others are studying medicine in universities in the western part of Russia.

He said that the war had no effect on the quality of studies in Russian universities. There is no need to make any special security arrangements for Indian students. Around 30000 Indian students are currently in Russia.

Osipov said that in 2022, when around 18000 Indian students were brought back from Ukraine, East Indian students have also contributed to the process. Indian students in Russia have made a prominent mark in the fields of economy, health and education.
