Despite the Supreme Court ban, the pollution situation in Ghaziabad remained in dangerous category even on Saturday due to fireworks and crackers being used on Diwali. However, there is slight relief in Noida compared to Friday. The average AQI in Ghaziabad during the last 24 hours was 308. Whereas AQI in Noida was 274. Whereas on Friday, AQI was 337 in Ghaziabad and 332 in Noida. That means there was slight relief in both the districts.
Highest pollution was recorded in Loni in Ghaziabad. The AQI here was 340. While it was 328 in Sanjay Nagar, 281 in Indirapuram and 282 in Vasundhara. As far as Noida is concerned, the (UPPCB) AQI was 231 in Sector 125, AQI 273 in Sector 62, 274 in Sector 1 and 261 in Sector 116.
Due to AQI being more than 300 for two consecutive days in Ghaziabad, the number of respiratory and asthma patients has increased. Besides, children and elderly people are also having trouble breathing. Doctors have advised the elderly to go out wearing masks only in the morning.
Senior nose-ear-throat specialist Dr. BP Tyagi says that due to prolonged stay in polluted environment, the chances of respiratory and lung related diseases, brain and nerve related diseases, even harm to the fetus increases. Children are also getting infected. Due to which they are suffering from cough, pneumonia and cold. Many children have come to them since yesterday till now, hence parents should pay special attention to the children to avoid infection. To avoid infection, attention should also be paid to diet. He says that if the elderly have to go for a walk in the morning, they should not go without a mask.
