Shimla, 9 November (Hindustan Reporter). In the capital Shimla, a prisoner who escaped by dodging the police has been arrested. The prisoner has been identified as Sunder Singh, son of Chetram, resident of Jabbal, district Shimla. He was serving a one-year imprisonment in a check bounce case. The police arrested him from Cheli forest near Hiranagar at around quarter to two last night. The police have registered a case against the prisoner's escape.
The incident occurred on Friday evening, when the prisoner was being brought back to Kanda jail after treatment from IGMC hospital. Two police constables were deployed for his security. The prisoner was being taken from IGMC to Kanda jail in a government bus. Meanwhile, near Hiranagar petrol pump near suburban Tutu, the prisoner escaped from the bus, dodging the police.
Although the police personnel tried to catch him and chased him for a long time, but they were not successful in catching him. The matter was immediately informed to the police station Baluganj and top police officials.
The entire area has been blocked to catch the absconding prisoner. He was searched in the forest of Hiranagar. The police had also blocked the entrances to the district. After midnight he was caught by the police in Cheli forest.
SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said on Saturday that the prisoner who escaped from police custody has been arrested last night. He said that a case has been registered under section 262 of the Indian Justice Code at Baluganj police station after the prisoner escaped from police custody.
