Ballia, July 15 (HS). Due to the rising water level of the Saryu river in the district, the coastal villages are facing erosion. The people of Bhojpurwa village, scared of river erosion, are being forced to destroy their houses with their own hands. The water level of the river has crossed the danger mark and reached 64.03 meters. This is 19 centimeters above the danger mark.
District Magistrate Praveen Kumar is constantly monitoring the erosion. He is also talking to the people, yet people say that the erosion is so fast that the river water has reached their homes. They are taking their belongings with them. Similarly, erosion victim Vishram Yadav said that they are running bulldozers (breaking houses) not on their homes but on their chests. Be it officers or leaders, everyone comes and says that they will do this or that but no one does anything.
The District Magistrate who went to inspect the Saryu river said that the river has eroded 80 to 100 meters and so far 13 people have lost their homes. Arrangements for food and accommodation are being made for all these people. Whatever appropriate compensation is due as per the rules will be given.
