New Delhi, 5 November (Hindustan Reporter). President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday said equal justice and getting rid of redundant colonial practices should be the guiding principles for our judiciary. We must remove the additional burden of the colonial legacy by continuing the useful aspects of pre-independence jurisprudence.

President Draupadi Murmu today released three publications of the Supreme Court. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present during the launch at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday. On this occasion he said that our justice delivery system should help the country move forward as a just and fair society.

The President said that the Supreme Court has developed a jurisprudence rooted in Indian ethos and realities. The book titled 'Justice for the Nation' released today describes the major events of the 75 years of the Supreme Court's journey. It shows the impact of the Supreme Court on various aspects of people's lives.

The President said that the situation of undertrials is a matter of permanent concern to him. He is happy that the report on the prison system released today makes an effort to understand the role of the judiciary in reducing the number of undertrial prisoners.
