The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is continuously expanding digital services to make the experience of its more than 6 crore subscribers and pensioners simple and transparent. After UAN portal, UMANG app and SMS services, EPFO has now fully activated the dedicated WhatsApp helpline service (WhatsApp Grievance & Information Cell) in more than 138 of its regional offices.
Now employed employees do not need to visit EPFO offices or cyber cafes to know PF balance, track claim status or lodge complaints. All these three tasks can be completed in a few minutes sitting at home through WhatsApp on your smartphone.
| work/facility | How will it happen through WhatsApp? | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Information about PF balance and passbook | Send “HI” or “Balance” to the helpline bot. | Account balance will be known immediately without logging into the portal |
| 2. Live Status of Online Claim | Ask status by sharing claim ID/UAN number | Real-time tracking of settlement of Form 19, 10C, 31 |
| 3. Filing a complaint (Grievance Redressal) | Send details of the problem and PF number in chat. | Quick resolution by the directly concerned regional officer |
Through WhatsApp helpline, you can know the latest details of the total amount deposited in your PF account and the monthly contribution deposited by the employer (company). As soon as you send a message from your registered mobile number to the respective regional office number, the chatbot checks the account linked to your UAN and shares the balance details on the screen.
If you have applied for PF withdrawal (Full & Final or Advance PF) due to medical emergency, house construction, marriage or after leaving the job, then you do not need to check the member portal again and again. By selecting ‘Claim Status’ option on WhatsApp and entering your claim ID or UAN, you can know at which level your file is pending with Field Officer, Account Section or Disbursal.
Often employees face problems due to non-approval of KYC by the company, stuck PF transfer from old company to new company or mistakes in name and date of birth. Through EPFO’s WhatsApp Grievance Cell, you can send a brief description of your problem and documents in the form of photo. From here you receive a complaint reference number (Token/Grievance ID) and the regional helpdesk team contacts you directly to ensure redressal.
