Dhamtari, 18 October (Hindustan Reporter). Karva Chauth fast, observed for the long life of her husband, will be observed on Sunday, 20 October. Women have started shopping to celebrate the festival. Puja items are being sold in abundance for Karva Chauth. Potters can be seen selling worship materials in Shani Mandir, Gol Bazaar, Rambagh and other markets of the city.

Crowd is being seen at the shops of clothes, karwa, jewelery and cosmetics in the market. Women observing fast are reaching the market to buy items like Karva, Chalni, Kashi, Saree etc. On Friday, shopping continued in the market till late evening. Pandit Ashok Shastri told that this festival is celebrated on the Chauth of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. The date of fasting is Sunday 20th October. On Karva Chauth, a strict fast is observed by married women for the long life of their husbands. This fast associated with devotion and love is observed from sunrise till the moon is seen in the night sky. On this day, along with listening to the story of Karva Chauth, Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati, Kartikeya, Ganeshji are worshipped. Fasting women should offer Arghya to the moon using an earthen pot only. In the festive season, the faces of the traders are also smiling due to the rush of customers. Along with jewellery, clothes, there is also a lot of demand for designer clothes. Traders say that to capitalize on the market of Karva Chauth, they had started preparations even before Navratri. On Karva Chauth, shops of materials used in worship have been decorated in the markets of Rambagh, Mat Mandir, Golbazar, Makki Chowk. There is a crowd of customers in the saree and bullion market.

Rs 100 pair is being sold in the market

A market of essential items for Karva Chauth has been set up in Makai Chowk. Potter Rajendra Kumar told that clay pots, sieves and karli are essential materials. A pair of Karva is being sold for Rs 100, a sieve for Rs 60 and Kashi for Rs 10.

Demand for red suits and sarees is high

There is a demand for red suits and designer sarees in the market. The price of these sarees ranges from Rs 800 to Rs 4000. Middle class women are very fond of these sarees. Blue Fox, Shifan Silk, Garden Silk, Banarasi sarees are also being sold in abundance. Textile merchant Rajesh Dewangan says that most of the women like to wear red colored saree, suit or Anarkali suit on this festival. Therefore, there is more enthusiasm among women in purchasing red colored suits and sarees in the market. Apart from this, designer suits and sarees are also being liked by women.
